Eshetu Mergiya Teklegiorgis is a coffee farmer in West Arsi, Nansebo Woreeda, Bulga Kebele. He started farming in 1990 and collects 80-100 quintals of red cherry annually, from 4.5 hectares, which processes dry/natural coffee using his drying station.
Due to a lack of guidance and knowledge on how to enter the international market, Eshetu’s coffee was sold locally until a year ago when he started supplying ECX. However, he felt he sold his coffee for less than what it deserved. “The price was very low compared to my efforts,” said Eshetu.
During the Cup of Excellence Ethiopia completion, Eshetu’s coffee scored 89.21 for sixth place., “I am so happy that my coffee scored high, and hope to receive a good price,” said Eshetu.
